Alcohol Concern is the national agency on alcohol
misuse. They work to reduce the incidence and costs
of alcohol-related harm and to increase the range
and quality of services available to people with
alcohol-related problems. |

Alcohol Education Research Council
The Council was established by the Government in
1982 by an Act of Parliament (The Licensing (Alcohol
Education and Research Act 1981) to administer the
Alcohol Education and Research Fund. This Fund finances
projects within the United Kingdom for education
and research and for novel forms of help to those
with drinking problems. |

East-West Detox charitable trust was founded and

field, who felt that there was a need for a different
kind of service provision, concerning the detoxification

A new model of treatment that combines both eastern
and western philosophies, as well as therapy and
medicine. This service provision means that there
is now a wider choice, so that an individual can
choose the treatment that suits them best. |

Release provides a range of services dedicated to

organization was founded in 1967 in response to
the growing number of young people who were coming
into contact with illegal drugs. With the voluntary
support of many young professionals, Release established
the first ever national drugs helpline and has maintained
its pivotal role in the drugs and legal advice field
and now operates a number of service programmes. |
